This is the introductory lecture for the Online and Mobile Marketing (MKT-164) course currently being offered at Santa Barbara City College in California. In this video, instructor Jacques Habra emphasizes the importance of online and mobile marketing in the future of business and discusses what he considers are two critical aspects of a good marketing campaign/program- an honest and authentic story told in a compelling way and a detailed understanding of who your customer is. The importance of the latter is especially critical in terms of search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) which will be discussed later in the course.
As an extension of the information presented here, Jacques Habra highly recommends the following two books on marketing to his students:
- "Crossing the Chasm" by Geoffrey A. Moore (sometimes referred to as the "Marketing Bible") and
- "Buyology: The Truth and Lies About Why We Buy" by Martin Lindstrom
Instructor Jacques Habra began his professional career in 1996 when he founded what became one of the nation's leading web development firms, Web Elite, LLC whose customers include General Motors and Wells Fargo. He served as the award winning firm's CEO from 1996 to 2002. After the firm was sold, he went onto found Noospheric, LLC which provides web consulting and development services to emerging companies and serves as General Manager for First Click SEO, LLC which provides online marketing and search engine optimization services. Jacques has also taught and shared his marketing experience at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and the University of Michigan.
