Hope you know what i mean mr. Marlowe, i think there is too much things like 'it sounds like Marcus or Larry', yeah there is nothing wrong with that kind of comments, both are bass playing legends, but i think you have your own, fantastic playing style and when i'm listening your licks i think you sounds exactly like... you!

How do you get a tone like that? try as I might I cant get my bass to sound anything like that!-

@Rafescow ya offf i dont mean the bass solo's of course so skillfull solo's sounding good even if you make an amazing solo with flute,it will sound good but find a random rock song and play the bass of it ! it wont be so good ! thats what i mean.

@trbossdoggy Of course some songs have no meaning with only bass, because their basslines were projected to work in a band setting, and so does the rest of the instruments. But saying bass can't stand a whole song by itself is - excuse me - extremely dumb. Just look for Victor Wooten's "Me and My Bass Guitar" and you'll get what i'm saying. Same goes for Jaco, Marcus Miller, etc etc. Actually I believe any instrument can stand a song alone, it just depends on the intention of the artist.

@Rafescow its same for electro guitar also.If you play electro guitar for too long,it will harass you,because electro guitar,drum and bass guitar,those 3 instruments are together,they are not so good when played alone.Only acoustic guitar is sounding good when played alone.But also,i wanna correct my comment, There is some songs that has meaning with only bass.I call them bass songs(7 nation army,love buzz etc.) except those songs,i am stabil about my comment :}
