Part 3 of my series of Game Gear tutorials. Here I show how to replace the capacitors on the sound board. If you have problems with low or no sound on your Game Gear, this is what you need to do to repair it.

Thanks goes out to Mark aka handheldretro for the use of his Sega Game Gear in these tutorials: http://www.youtube.com/user/handheldretro

  • This is a great series of tutorials, and I know of someone who can use them.

  • @edt1138 Thanks Ed, thanks for sharing my videos and helping the channel grow :) Much appreciated man !

  • @StigsGameRoom why not use a desoldering braid or something to that ? would make this process a bit easier i belive :P

  • @Leoooonard I have tried using braid to desolder these capacitors and it doesn't work the best. For a start there is such a small area to work on, it can be awkward to get the braid in, also because the legs of the caps are folded back on themselves, the braid doesn't get all the solder out and you then need to resort to the method I showed in the video, so the easiest way is to do it how I show :)

  • Nice vid mate cheers
