I saw'em play @ Temple in downtown Philadelphia. More Bama fans there than Temple fans. Gene Gelks returned a punt for a TD.

1988 could have been a championship-type season but losing Gene Jelks and Bobby Humphrey for the season early on ruined it.

A bit of a stretch to say they took their place along side the champions of the past, they tied for the SEC but lost to Auburn and Miami,still this was Curry's best year.
