The 1996 debate at Oxford featuring four eminent participants, including noted biblical scholar Rabbi Shmuley Boteach and evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins.

The panelists tackle the issue of whether or not God, and by extension, religion, is needed for there to be goodness in the world. Rabbi Boteach boldly asserts that the greatest tragedies of the 20th century were not only removed from religious motivations, but were responsible for more casualties than religious wars in all other times put together.

Dawkins was completely right here, pointing out that Ward's statements about learning more about God are in fact humans thinking on what they THINK God "must" intend, based on evolved human morality, not the bible.

Again, Ward is making up his own definitions.

"It's quite clear" that you have to ask for things by praying for them the same way that Jesus prayed in Gesthemene, and if you do that then you will receive what you ask for.

I walked by the building where I had the gorgeous pleasure of listening to Richard give a talk a few months ago. That was a great great night!

I somewhat agree that we should follow reason and evidence. That is why people should follow Judaism (or at least the 7 universal laws of Noah). "Judaism" which is really the Torah is based on scientific evidence. Check on youtube- "Rabbi Mizrachi Torah and Science , or Divineinformation". please comment back AFTER watching it.

You can really tell how far evolutionary psychology has come since the late 90's. So many of these questions are completely dismissable today through proper evolutionary, survival-driven psychology that produces other profitable outcomes which appear designed.

It's funny how many of Shmuley's arguments are allowed to pass here. Compare this to Hitchens' and Dawkins' use of psychology and philosophy to own him recently.
