Prop ruling turns Parliament into a circus

Fireworks in Parliament as Member For North Sydney Joe Hockey expands a prop showing Labor's forecast debt to the year 2022. A rather hilarious performance and debate takes place in the chamber about the Government's rights to display props to the Chair. Labor accuses the Liberals of running up a debt as well.

Channel Nine's Laurie Oakes has compared this performance to a comedy skit.

@CanberraUser No only two people in the last 150 yrs have broken decorum while in session. The first in 1861 a senator beat another senator with a cane until he was unconscious. The other one was when a congressman yelled at Obama "You Lie" when he was talking about giving amnesty to illegal immigrants.

I'm sick to death of Hockey's smarmy, smirky parliamentary & media style. What a mindless bore he is - a real negative for an Opposition who is so desperately trying to present itself as a credible alternative govt. Hockey just gets bigger in size & more fat & bloated all the time. He's looking more like Monty Python's Mr Creosote character every day. Beware, fellow MPs .. he'll bloat up & blow up before long .. just like Mr Creosote did. Either that, or he'll have a stroke / heart attack.
