one of Kalidasa's most popular poem "Meghaduam" with 111 stanzas.
Describing how King Kubera (from central India) trying to send message thru northward cloud to his wife in (north of India) Himalaya.
It shows the knowledge on meteorology.
"mat maar mat maar kahi brakha ke var"
by Lata is just glorifying the dance in moonson season.
Just supurb!

This song reminds me of another song from Meghdoot (1945) by Jagmohan, namely,'O varsha ke pahle badal'.Both are nostalgic gems from an era which seems lost in the mists of times."The sweetest songs are those which are sad". A Yaksha had been exiled by Kuber (the king of Yakshas) to Vindhyachal mountains. At the onset of the rainy season he requests a cloud to carry his reassuring message to his lovelorn wife in Alkapuri. He gives details of the route to Alkapuri to the cloud .
