earthquake Christchurch New Zealand aftermath 1st aftershock to hit CHCH 22nd Feb

I'd got my boy Gordon out and was surveying the damage when the first big aftershock hit. My wee boy Liam was safe in his cot in the strongest room in the house so I checked on Gordon and then went back to wake Liam up.

@jbpnw yes - we sited his room in a strong hold . I was alone so rushed Gordon out to the garage during the first quake, re-entered the house and grabbed a camera when the aftershock hit.

I checked into each room -at that time filled with flying debris- and started to enter Liam's room when I realised that it alone was withstanding the shocks and he was still asleep!! I checked on Gordon and then returned to shift Liam outside and put up our tent.

Of all our rooms, Liam's was untouched and ok:)

got baby formula delivered and have water for one week and a full tank of petrol for the 1942 Willys Jeep, so we're going to be okay for the worst time.

@DrLeavingsoon Babies are great. When we (adults) are flipping out, they are oblivious... thankfully.
