Pandits and Muslims are the same ethnically. Muslims are those pandits who converted into Islam, while Pandits today are those who resisted the conversion. You cannot have Kashmiri culture without either of the two communities since present day kashmiri culture is a mixture of PRE-islamic culture and the culture that was forced on kashmiris by persians, afghans and turks. Muslims need to forget Independence and just have a more realistic view- like maybe asking for more sovereignty UNDER India.
