@GreyPikachu68 Yes you cast on the same for it, at least to my knowledge. Ive never seen a purl caston but I think there is a castoff that you can purl but Id have to research it alittle more

@lisapisane I knit the continental way too and I do a combination of continental and throwing with color-work. Ive only recently started adding color to my pieces. Was always intimidated by it before. I want to learn the English style only because then I can be helpful for those who want to learn in that style.

I'm a continental or German knitter and I wanted to learn the English style so I could do colorwork. I can't get my right hand finger to get around the needle at all. "Throwing" it is much easier for me. I'm glad there are so many youtube tutorials on knitting, because books often explain things in a confusing way for me. Thanks.

I knit the English style but i do not throw, my hands never let go of the needle and wrap the yarn around my right finger comes up and around to wrap the yarn.

I have never seen anyone knit my way, what is it called do you know?

I knit very very fast this way.

I do believe there is a cast on /off method for the purl stitch. Great video, this one actually taught me how to do the purl stitch. Its just reverse kniting basically. I know, its hard to know if your doing it properly when your teaching yourself! Keep trying though, put it in perspective: in 4 years from now, you be like, what youtube videos? lol... good luck!!

I've been knitting for a little while. I do a slightly modified version of English knitting. I can go relatively fast. I've watched the continental videos, and I can't get continental purling to work! It goes very slow for me! Anyway, these videos are very good and helpful!
