A little known disease that doctors claim is the most neglected of all abandoned diseases continues to wreck havoc in the country's remote areas. Kala Azar, a disease that is fatal if left untreated, is still highly endemic in West Pokot, Turkana and Wajir with 4,000 people infected every year. While the disease is treatable, little attention has been paid to developing new drugs, a major setback that continues to see patients undergo month-long admissions in hospital, and one hospital at that for the entire Pokot and Turkana Counties.
Why is the Dr working without gloves?
