My hands are too small haha, but I can play it just fine using only my index and third finger, as long as you can switch between the frets fast enough its fine, but your wrist takes the toll.

The Police vid makes me nuts...Andy doesn't seem to play the same way all of us are. He's using different fingerings it looks like. Can't figure it out.
