Craig Considine directed this brief discussion about stereotypes of northerners and southerners living in the United States. THESE ARE NOT OUR OWN PERSONAL VIEWS, but rather typical views that Americans have of their fellow countrymen and women. The discussion took place at Reagan National Airport in Washington DC.

  • Now there is something called "The New South" and this means yankees who either fled the horrors they created in the northeast, or are heavily with the military where it appropriated tens of thousands of acres of southern land. Or benefited from neo-prohibition laws s/a 1965 "Tobacco Acts" where southern land was devalued (then given away) by outlawing the cash crop that existed in the south (tobacco) so land could be cheapened. That's how yankees got the "New South" (their "south")

  • @CodArk2 "And basing your opinion on an entire group of people on a stereotype...and an outdated and inaccurate one to boot....blows away any pretense of education you have, since educated people don't stereotype."

-THANK YOU! thats the point. Theres a difference between being educated and being enlightened. If you are well educated on paper, but hold stereotypes about people, you're not intellegent or open minded, because you fail at the most basic sociological purpose of education.

  • @Slotten68 also, why do you keep calling me a hypocrite about things I didn't even say? I never once said I was nice, or that Southerners are nicer. I will maintain that every northerner I've met was a total shitheel with bizarre pathologies. Also, get your fucking terminologies straight. According to your arguement with this other person, you're from Wisconsin? Thats not "the north", thats the fucking midwest.

  • @Slotten68 ..when you all seem to hate just about anyone who isn't from your narrow cesspool corner of the world? every northerner uses slavery-which no one alive today could have possibly been a part of, as the gold standard of how Southerners are inferior. Well, shouldn't you, as self-proclaimed humanists pity us if we're that bad, rather than dehumanize us as flat caricatures, most likely because of your own clear short comings?

  • @CodArk2 Alcohol tax is lowest in Wisconsin...so I guess we got that going for us

  • @NotNamedJones I could have said anything to you but as long as it was in dissent you would call it some northern trick or stereotypical mentality yet you claim the south is way different. I'm calling you a hypocrite... You hide behind the "southern people are so nice" sign while you trash others. You're a joke

  • @Slotten68 Also, I'm not wrong, nor did I ever concede that I was. See, here's a typical northerner doggie trick; taking a flippant comment and attempt to invert it into some sort of damning intellectual superiority declaration. you probably are bald and think you're good looking because you wear black all the time and pop off lame, tired cliches about the South. Just alot of hot air, really.

  • @Slotten68 hahaha it certainly seems appropriate when talking to a lowly northerner, doesn't it? I mean, you guys have a pack mentality, are needlessly aggressive about territorial disputes, are pretty stupid in general, but know a few good tricks, and are quite ugly. feel bad about yourself, you hate mongerer. you probably like Danzig and everything.

  • In the north we have 8 foot long rat snakes, aggressive water snakes, and not to mention Timber Rattlesnakes and Northern Copperheads. While copperheads may be more common in your area, ours are more venomous. We have more knowledge of snakes in the north and were we were tought to

treat all animals with respect. In the south there are many poachers based on Animal Planet. Not to mention in the north it's evenly distributed throughout the year with cold. December to march are cold and snowy.

  • @Slotten68 UT's med rankings are still higher, and I had plenty of research opportunities. UT is not dramatically inferior to other schools, since i did compare and contrast. And I doubt they turn down someone with a 4.0 from a southern school, we aren't that backward. Maybe if they didnt have the money to pay for it, since souther schools are less expensive than northern ones too, but not based on education. something like 20 of the top 50 schools in the US are in the south
