The gas giant should be covering one whole side of Pandora "since it's close and giant". They show half of it, as if it was far away when it's not.

well, the gas giant is revolving around the star & the pandora is revolving about the gas giant, so there must be times when the gas giant is completely out of sight in the Pandorean skies as it is half visible during a middle time & fully visible & covering the Pandorean skies for a shorter time.

Avatar gets a lot of flack for having a cliche plot and I can agree that the story line is not new or unique. But it's still one of my favorite movies of all time just because of the thought, beauty, and creativity put into the planet. As a Biologist, I love how much science there is to the biology of Pandora and it makes the movie so much fun for me to watch.

It's not unlike Earth and it's such a shame people don't appreciate how much beauty we have here (which we're steadily destroying).

"earth would just be a dot if it was a moon with those 3 planets"

Beg pardon? Planets can have multiple moons. Moons do not have multiple planets.

That's when the gas giants have been successfully imaged at all, and even those imagings have been the subject of controversy

(facepalm) No, and don't you think this one has run its course? You're seeing an excerpt from the movie.

People really ARE in the dark on that? If a real planet with real life on it had been found, don't you think you would have heard about it through every news source in existence?

No probe from earth has ever been much more than 10 light hours from home. Resolution of even the most powerful telescopes available won't show gas giants in other systems as anything but small points of light.

"All this is a computer animation from Hollywood"

Well, obviously. Was anybody in serious doubt about that? I assumed that a few people in this discussion were joking.
