Globalization -- the ongoing process of greater interdependence among countries and their citizens -- is complex and multifaceted. This session was a lively discussion about globalization and its trends, effect on the poor, and positive and negative attributes. It challenged the group to understand nuances and think about how technology and other tools can help improve the lives of the poor.

  • Interesting presentation! I cannot stop wonder what Foulcalt would say in relation to the claims about the need to limit the nation-state... Remember "All claims to truth are really just hidden claims to power". While moving some of the decisions away from the nation-state to global forums and local communities might sound a good idea, who is really able to influence global decisions ("gloobal" companies or poor citizens in sub-Saharan Africa?)... Anyway, excellent food for thought! Good work!
