Excellent song of the world war ywo era, the highlanders of the 51 st Divison had been in combat for over a year in africa and sicily, the song speaks to their battle fatigue, in scots, dialect.

yes, its not the original scottish lyrics, but its still a great song. thats part of the folk tradition, people take songs and make their own tweaks to them. like jazz standards, everyone has their own version.
