CEO of Chicago Public Schools Ron Huberman is in the process of turning around failing public schools. However, a better way to improve education would be to give parents a choice where they send their kids to school. A voucher program would stimulate market competition and innovation to improve academic outcomes. The Milwaukee Voucher has put competitive pressure on all schools, even the public schools. Turning around failing pubic schools doesn't address the root problem, which is a government education monopoly resistant to change. Untill there is more market pressure to improve academic outcomes, Chicago Public Schools will lack the incentive to do better.
