A very old IHB NW2 chugs out of Michigan Ave Yard with a cut of gons. IHB #8814 was built in 1949 and is one of two NW2s still in service for The Harbor.

4:01PM-
Empty autoracks arrive off The Harbor and proceed East on the NS. A solo blast CP unit is in charge.

An NS manifest off home trackage switches onto the IHB Kankakee Line and proceeds West into the sunset.

After the NS being surprisingly dead so far, a manifest finally breaks the silence. The old Conrail leading has a primered nose because it collided with a tanker truck on July 11th, 2008 in North Carolina. Thanks for the info Espee9180!

NS is starting to get control of the interlocking at CP502 again as another train follows another. A Westbound hot Z-train is led by an aging Spartan Cab Dash-9.

5:07PM-
The mill has been quiet all evening since it was a weekend but sure enough, switchers 304 and 305 take some loaded coil cars to Michigan Avenue Yard after hours of inactivity.

5:10PM-
The "Bottle Train" has finally arrived after coming all the way from the Riverdale plant. Whats cool about catching this job at night is you can see the molten steel through the openings of the cars.

Another train gets a green signal indication on the IHB. It happened to be the earlier train's counterpart, this one loaded.

An Eastbound manifest crawls underneath the old signal bridge with NYC heritage. With the new "Darth Vador" type signals in place but turned to the side, I'd say the vintage Target Signals have their days numbered...

Great video! Info about the Conrail unit with the primer nose:

NS #8352 was heavily damaged on July 11, 2008, in a collision with a tanker truck in North Carolina. It was repaired in Roanoke.

Speaking of heat, when one drives along 127th at night in Miami, one can see the coal burning flames from there. That can also indicate how the coal is being burned away.
