Video of a 3 stage refrigeration cascade system built for cpu cooling. It is used for extreme overclocking. With no charge it can go as low as -150º Celsius, operating temperature is around -135 idle cpu (50w), -125 loaded cpu (200w)
CMOS likes to be cold. The lower the temperature, the greater the clock frequency you can run. It's not just about heat removal. I would be interested to know what clock frequency you were able to obtain?

@michael99887766 well thats putting 1000hp in a car that will only drive in city with a speed limit of 30mph its because they feel like doing it.

@dnbrhythm But surely there are other limiting factors to frequency beyond heat, and when you get to -125 the cooling is just superfluous?

@michael99887766 lower the temp the higher the freq

What the hell's the point in having the loaded CPU at -125?

not cold enough! you need to use helium! 4 kelvin ftw!

Is it gassed with R-14 on the third stage?

@Orauk This thing could ray-trace a car towing it anywhere in the world :P

Do you have a writeup of the hardware and refrigerants used? I am interested.

Shoulda called it The Behemoth. That thing looks like it would have to be towed behind a car to take it anywhere lol
