Test of two Gamewell Type B Diaphone fire horns I just made replacement pistons for. The first is an old 4-vent type, which makes the classic sound. The second horn is interesting, as it has 7 of the motor air inlet holes plugged at the factory, as well as 10 of the 20 air motor front-to-back passages. The result is that the piston has a shorter "throw" (travels less far front-to-back), which gives this horn a more mellow tone.

I gave the horns identical aluminum pistons of 128g, to return them to their circa 1950 factory original sounds.
