Even one raised in Western Civilization can hear the emotion in this piece. From a sob to a wail all surrounded by a prayer.

His 8 main string instrument is tuned to "Varansai" tuning I believe. Combines Kharaj Pancham and Ghandar Pancham. I seemed to have read somewhere that he later removed the extra 'Ga' string that enabled this approach.
This a superb performance. Trancending.
