TD Canada Trust staffers hold beard growing contest for United Way

Three TD Canada Trust employees are feeling clean-shaven after a beard growing contest ended yesterday.

Tony Walsh, manager of the St. Clair Street branch, along with Ben Srokosz, manager of financial services, and Aaron Goodchild, a financial services representative, who began growing their whiskers on halloween in an effort to raise a little money and increase awareness for the 2008 United Way of Chatham-Kent campaign, went under the electric razor at the bank.

Walsh estimates he spoke to at least 100 customers and encouraged them to donate online through TD Canada Trusts website to the United Way or one of the agencies it supports.

While the contest brought in an extra $200, Walsh said, more importantly, staff participation in payroll deduction for the United Way is more than 80 per cent.
