Host Harry Kreisler welcomes writer Michael Pollan for a discussion of the agricultural industrial complex that dominates consumer choices about what to eat. He explores the origins, evolution and consequences of this system for the nations health and environment. He highlights the role of science, journalism, and politics in the development of a diet that emphasizes nutrition over food. Pollan also sketches a reform agenda and speculates on how a movement might change Americas eating habits. He also talks about science writing, the rewards of gardening, and how students might prepare for the future. • Why doesn't our Imam, I mean President, express any concern for the brutal torture so many animals endure in disgustingly cruel university, medical and pharmaceutical labs whose sadism is only exceeded by that inflicted upon chickens, sheep, pigs and cows on factory farms? Because Muslims don't give a sh** about animal rights.

Why do fat piggy obese Americans have to eat so much f****g meat? God will consider your regard for lessor creatures when he regards you on JUDGMENT DAY.

  • michael pollan is brilliant, rational and articulate. I hope more people have the opportunity to hear him speak or read his books because his ideas can change the world for the better.

  • @AnotherCompartment

    Sorry you lost me...

  • "A dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico the size of Masaschusetts today." Eerie.

  • He sees the problems of centralizing food, but falls for the "climate change" narrative that has been spun by the same exact globalists who brought the genetically modified seeds to India. And he has no problem with centralizing so called health care. The entire point is to keep everyone sick as the pharmaceutical and insurance companies will now benefit from chronic illness with the new mandate. Without chronic illness, there is no need for pharmaceuticals and comprehensive insurance plans.

  • eating real food is healthier.

    duh

the system wants you sick and stupid... so yea...

    have fun getting unavoidable cancer.

hope you can pay for the drugs

  • One of the reason Americans ignore the health care issue & food issue is that acknowledging that will shift the onus & hold the people responsible for making sensible food choices...& 2 things americans hate most are accepting responsibility for the wrongs they do, & change any thing they do

  • 37:03-37:09..."nutrition science is approximately what surgery was in 1650..." Surprisingly, medical science is rediscovering the wisdom of using leeches & maggots.

  • I have to say i have just come upon this Man Pollan and he is my New HERO!

Changing our cultural expectations in America is very important, and across the globe.

  • This is NOT more important than sex. ;)

    Great interview.
