...Of course she was slain leaving Tsurumaru totally and utterly lost-in total, absolute isolation and confusion in the world. His world was not only filled with physical darkness, but now psychological darkness

as well. Very sad.

One of  the most sombre scenes in all of film making can be found in the ending of 'Ran'. Where we see poor Tsurumaru, Lord Hidetora's son-in-law and Lady Sue's brother whom Hidetora blinded when he was a boy, waiting in the dusk of day-and the metaphorical dusk to a treacherous series of events-on top of the remaining foundation, or fortified wall, of a ruined castle Hidetora destroyed some years back for his sister Sue to return who doubled back to retrieve his flute.

The concubine murder at 1:47 is a bit funny if you see it at wikipedia. Overall it's a good movie.
