As was told to me by none other than Lloyd Green, the original steeler on both the Paycheck versions of this song from 1966, Paycheck (aka Donny Young) and Bobby Austin were rooming together in Vegas and Austin had written the basics to the song but just felt it was lacking something. John stepped in and added the "Loneliness surrounds me, without your arms around me...." line and it was a done deal, Bobby loved it, and in turn, gave Johnny half credit for the song and the rest is history.
