Got another fantastic cut from the "Jukebox Charlie" LP. Ohio born Johnny wrote this hit, and it's the one that got Mississippi native Miss Tammy Wynette on the road to stardom. Listen to Johnny's version.

  • Boys and Girls Johnny Paycheck is and was the real deal. I so love him very much. I am only 30 and I can remember my dad playing this song for me when I was very young. He just breaks my heart when he sings and i love it. This is real country music...

  • 1st time i heard this song was on Jukebox in Tootsies lounge in 1965-it wasen,t Paycheck thoe???-im stumped?

  • Didn,t Claude Grey record this song back in the day? I swear I had a 45 record with him singing it. This was back in the 60,s. It has always been a special song to me. Somebody help me out. Maybe it,s just a senior thing going on!.... Bruce McDonald, Niles Mi.

  • JP paints a sad , heartfelt picture of despair with his country voice as his brush .

  • As was told to me by none other than Lloyd Green, the original steeler on both the Paycheck versions of this song from 1966, Paycheck (aka Donny Young) and Bobby Austin were rooming together in Vegas and Austin had written the basics to the song but just felt it was lacking something. John stepped in and added the "Loneliness surrounds me, without your arms around me...." line and it was a done deal, Bobby loved it, and in turn, gave Johnny half credit for the song and the rest is history.

  • Great country tks for the post I love the song
