Hummingbirds of Nanaimo

This video is dedicated to my sister-in-law Judy Mackenzie who loves hummingbirds.

It is actually a collection of clips taken over the course of a day. You will hear lots of birds and the odd seaplane and ferry, as there is a ocean channel nearby.

There are a number of hummingbirds that live in my backyard. They rise out the trees like miniscule helicopters, hover for a moment then accelerate away so rapidly that I almost expect to hear a little sonic boom.

When they aren't busy chasing each other all over our neighbourhood, they spend their time at the feeder, chirping in the trees or becoming indignant over the very smallest of backyard events or intrusions.

If they stay for the winter I will try to get a few more clips of these chirpy little acrobatic daredevils!
