Actually it is a "Zero GROUND Speed Landing" approx. 25 kts headwind performed by Michael Obermaier during his test flights on the DF02 gyrocopter, see also: www.GyroTec.de

It's no fake ... it's just enough wind - you can hear it on the micro ...

if the minimum horizontal forward speed of your gyrocopter is 20 knots, a headwind of 20 knots will make you look like starting vertical.

I today made also a very short landing with < 3 m ground roll.

  • the cameraman is a little nuts for standing that close with the rotor blades spinning at that angle, could have taken his head off, unless he's just zoomed in.

  • lol ... loved it.

  • @paul260478 When you say "any plane" do you mean any single passenger plane? Or do you mean any plane, any plane at all?

  • Hey can you do any autorotations?

  • @1lllllllll1 I made the same observation.

  • This looks like a very nice model with enclosed cockpit and all. The 25 mph headwind explains the 0 mph landing so I wasn't all that impressed. I thought the takeoff was more impressive and wonder how much the pilot weighs? I also wonder how close that propeller came to hitting the ground.

  • Hey guys this zero landing looked cool , does that mean That this Gyro copter can't crash when the engine fails , on let's say 5000 feet?

  • So at 0:37, the pilot tipped the nose forward to avoid stalling, right?
