'Rafid' means he who has rejected... from 'Rafd' (Rejection) Its simply used to describe those that rejected Abu Bakr and Omar as usurping tyrants etc.. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the Shia belief in the Imams, whether 12 or otherwise. Now if a Shia recognises the authority and accepts Abu Bakr and Omar ra, the Shia is not a Rafid, as he or she has not rejected the Caliphs... So while TheMuslim0 was correct to say all Shia are not Rafids, but all Rafids are Shia..
