Earlier this year I posted a series of videos made last February in and around Cancun, Mexico. Back in July of 2005, I
booked a trip to Cancun. In August of the same year, Cindy and I started seeing each other again after a little six-year break. I immediately invited her to join me on my trip. So in January of 2006 we went to Cancun. It was my first time ever in Mexico. We liked it so much that we bought a timeshare. Here are the photos taken during that trip. We stayed at the Sunset Lagoon for four days, and at Club Internacional for a whole week. We got around to Coba, Chichen Itza, Isla Mujeres, and of course Cancun. If you see some partially destroyed buildings, don't be surprised. A big hurricane tore through the place not three months before we got there. Crews were putting palm trees back up, hotels were being repaired, a car dealership had all its plate glass windows imploded, and things were being worked on. It was mostly hazy, unlike the blue-sky perfection that we enjoyed this year. We had one big tequila night, (look for pictures where we look drunk) and got some pics of our room at Sunset Lagoon as well as our suite at Club Internacional. Many of these scenes are
ones that you've seen before if you had the fortitude to sit through my videos of Mexico, but these pictures were all taken more than a year earlier. My equipment was a Pentax P30N SLR camera body with a 28-80mm manual zoom and manual focus. Most of these pictures were taken using the aperture priority
automatic setting, trying to keep both the background and foreground in focus at all times with one or two metered manual shots (like the flying pelican),
and some flash shots using a cheap flash and f11 or f16 (using 200ASA Fuji
negative film) synchronizing at 1/100 if you're into all that arcane, esoteric, and obsolete stuff. Still, it's nice to remember all that when I
pull out my digital camera, point and shoot, get excellent quality video images and sound nearly every time, and
can choose my stills from among fifteen or even thirty frames per second...

  • Wow ..... that was an amazing slideshow mate. That must have taken some putting together. And LOVED the Klaatu music. What a great number. Thanx Feqhy!

  • The hardest part was finding all the images. I took several negatives to be put on discs. I got back with six or seven CD's filled with pictures. I think they got them all on there, but in random order. After importing them, it was a matter of drag and drop, add the push transitions, and add music. Klaatu has been one of my favorites since I first heard them in 1976!

    You're welcome anytime...

  • Great slideshow about a great place. Really beautiful there! I never thought I could see it now I can because of your video here! Thanks a lot!

This also reminds me that I still have some footage from Australia 2004

  • The pictures don't quite do it justice. The videos we made this year come closer, but there's nothing like being there. I'll be on the lookout for some Australia

    vids from Germany. ;-)

  • Andy and Cindy, I just can't tell you how much your videos mean to me. There are just a handful of people on youtube that keep me coming back. You two are not only interesting and funny and talented, but you are just nice as hell. I had to favorite this. The pictures are wonderful. Oh and Cindy, I meant to tell you before your cards are lovely!

  • Your comments mean a lot to us too, hon. Thanks for watching, enjoying, and being a friend!

  • Those ruins were Mayan. Now, one of my lifetime goals is

to get to Egypt. Did you know beer was invented in Egypt? Some day it will happen. That little Jacuzzi would be great right about now. Next year, for sure!
