I'm Peter Barnes. I'm a business person in California.

We now know the atmosphere can only hold a certain amount
of carbon pollution without causing a dangerous climate crisis.
But most bills in Congress give polluters free rights to continue
polluting, just because they polluted a lot in the past.

Doesn't it make sense to SELL pollution rights through an auction,
and then use those funds to support clean energy?

Shouldn't we do cap-and-auction instead of cap-and-trade?

  • yeah.....then when the rest of the world doesn't do a damn thing we can import everything.

  • the whole premise about carbon is a false statment WE DONT KNOW. YOU JUST HAVE BEEN BRAINWASHED.

  • I don't think Selling Polution rights will fix the problem. I think you should make it Illigal to pollute the air Industrially You should make it Mandatory for all Industrial Pollutors to put a filter on they're smoke stacks Ect. And charge them for that and use it to help clean energy. For Example a Coal Burning plant should put a filter.

  • Spoken like a true businessman, Peter ^_^

A cap & auction system wouldn't fix pollutant issues because it allows the problem to continue as a taxable allowance.

Mind you I'm much more concerned with sulfur dioxides in the air, heavy metals like mercury in our soil and chemical toxins polluting our fresh water supply.
