I saw Stan Jones preform this song at the Lone Pine school while he was still a ranger, about 60 years ago. He talked about thinning the burro population in the Owens Valley.I was 8 or 9 and it's still one of my faverate songs.

Nice version. Stripped down from the more elaborate versions, which is just fine. This has to be one of the most covered songs of all time. I used to have a CD with nothing but Ghost Rider covers (not any kind of official CD, I burned it myself.) And each version was great in it's own way. Song never gets old.
