@marinegirl2010 A fountian pen is not popular anymore but its still used in Europe. A fountian pen was an elegant pen used until the late 1950s. Its a pen that uses ink and he can do many beautiful pen I suppose. You can use Old English, Italic, all kinds of fonts that take practice. fountain pens were pretty revolutionary at the time in which this film takes place. It was sort of the next step up in writing from quills and ink. i have one. they have like little cartidges of ink inside of them that you replace every so often. the tip (or nib i believe its called...?) unscrews and attached os like a lille tude of ink. The pens come with all different sizes of tips. Some fine tip for fine writing and larger tips for thicker writing or for special writing like caligraphy.

This scene of Anne at dinner is so me I would've been so bored lol.
It is a very elegant and usually expensive type of pen. It was special for her because she liked to write I suppose.
