@BTP1973 are you the one that caught this fish?Probably not. I simply said that the fish should have been released unharmed. You are appearently a catch and keep fisherman which would explain your arguement. I believe in catch and release no matter the size of fish. In my opinon that fish didnt have to die. The only reason the fish was gutted was to check for cheating at the tournament not for IGFA or any other kind of record. It seems you have a little holier than thou.

Let me clarify on that as well, A giant cooler so people can see other top fish in the contest. oh and yes Lake Michigan is a put and take fishery(Salmon and Trout wise) and has been for years,no matter how hard you want to spin that on us. That 40 pound plus trophy fish was STOCKED into lake Michigan as well.

Wonderful, again, you have no right to sit here and tell other people what they do with their fish,period. The entire 'holier than thou" fisherman like you makes people sick. As someone who has fished 'Salmon-A-Rama"(the tournament this was for)for over thirty years. I laugh at the fact you continue to make an assumption based on little or no facts here. The fish was in a cooler(why it looks that way) and gutted to check for cheating.

@BTP1973 tournament winning catches get released unharmed all the time. IGFA record fish get released all the time. Put and take is for stocker fish that can be replaced not 40 pound plus trophies. That fish looked like it had been out of the water for five days. That fish isn't even edible.They do make recreation replicas without killing the fish.

bettter yet, let's not and sit here on youtube with the holier than thou comments and tell other people what to do with their fish in a put and take fishery. It was caught in a money tournament (10K worth) and is now the new Wisconsin state record, The fresh water hall of fame has declared in the new world record. The IGFA is next . Of course the fish was going be killed and put on his wall.
