This was an assignment for our ethics class, a short talk about something that we feel strongly about because it impacts the world in some way. Language and culture are interlinked so close, that I strongly feel that any national language being used as an international language will help erode or destroy individual cultures. In this talk, I present some serious downfalls of English language imperialsm (which could easily be extrapolated to any language imperialism), and try to present a case for the use of an international language that was designed to be learned and used as a second language only. This in my opinion can help nurture respect for all cultures and people, and put us all on an even playing field of communication. This is my mac-talk.

Esperanto is hardly international, it is obviously heavily influenced by indo-european languages rather than, for example: languages from the orient. The native speakers of European languages will have a much easier time than those from the far east and other places.

@thestrangewizard It is true that native speakers of European languages will have an easier time with Esperanto than speakers of non-European languages. However, speakers of non-European languages will have a much easier time with Esperanto than with English, French or German, or any other European language. So for them, Esperanto may only be 4 times easier to learn than English, wherease for a French speaker, it may be 10 times easier to learn English. Still easier.
