Obama: Suspicious Packages Posed 'Credible Terrorist Threat' to U.S.

The suspicious packages found on two cargo flights in Britain and Dubai "do apparently contain explosive material," President Obama told the nation Friday afternoon.

The packages originating from Yemen were addressed to places of Jewish worship in Chicago.

The president said in a televised address to the nation that the Yemeni government is cooperating with the U.S. in investigating the source of the packages, and helping with efforts to dismantle Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula. The al-Qaida affiliate continues to plan attacks against the United States, its citizens and allies, Mr. Obama said.
