Seriously one of my favorite bands. I'm from the USA and have 4 of their albums. Hope you're all safe in Japan.

Hands down my favorite Eastern Youth song. I have been living in Japan for almost 8 years now, and as my knowledge of the language has deepened, so has my appreciation for the genius in the lyrics Yoshino-san writes. This translation is spot on! Great work. If you live in Tokyo I would gladly buy you and your Japanese colleague a drink.

thank you so much for these translations. this is my favorite band, and i've had little explanation of what so many of these incredibly beautiful songs are written about.
i've watched all of your eastern youth translations and yoshino-san's lyrics fit the music so perfectly.
again, thank you.

You're welcome, I am glad you like them!
Though I cannot take all of the credit - as the credits indicate, all of the EY translations are done with the help of softark (YouTube name), who is a native Japanese speaker. It is a perfect partnership for translating, and we are glad to help more people appreciate Eastern Youth's music.
But I would still encourage you to learn Japanese if you can, the songs are even more impressive when you understand the words themselves.

wow thanks for this.
I study Japanese too. I went to Tokyo this past summer and had a chance to see them in Shinjuku. They were terrific live and I was excited to see them play this, which is one of my favorite songs of all time. My japanese is still pretty poor. I know oshieru but couldnt think of what just oshie by itself meant. thanks again for posting this

*Jealous* I really want to see them live... multiple times if I can :D
The 'oshie' here is kind of tricky though; though he sings 教え(teachings), he writes the lyrics as '教典' (scripture/canon), so we tried to include that meaning in the translation as well.
Be sure to check out the other subs I have up for EY! My goal is to English sub all of their PVs!
