This is to show that properly equipped (not over kill except 8800gtx) the only lag is when you load the system with Prime 95 ( the white box open in far left screen ) and change from one screen to the other. The reason mine does this is its having to go from 1920x1200 on the left to 1650x1050 on the right. If I stay in the same screen the lag is almost not present.
OS: Vista 32
HDD:Seagate 300GB 7200.9 SATA II
+ 320GB Seagate 7200.10 SATA II
MB: BFG 680i Sli
CPU:E6600 @ 3.2Ghz x8 1600FSB
MEM:Corsair 8500 @ 1066 5-4-5-12 TRC 15
PSU:Thermaltake Toughpower 850w
GFX:EVGA 8800GTX
Monitor: Dell 2408WFP and Dell E228WFP
The 2408WFP wins without a fight
I didn't post this to trash the other I just wanted to show that you can run Vista without having the most expensive thing out there. No it's not a Pentium III 850mhz ( That was my previous)but if thats what you have then the software you use wouldn't use the new features in Vista anyway....just saying if you can't run it smoothly on the setup you have, and you don't have the need for newer software why worry about it anyway. Just stick with what you got. I've never used anything other than Windows 95-Current. So I can't tell you the performance difference (which one uses system resources better) between the too on the same setup. :( sorry just showing Vista can run smoother than the video I'm replying to.

  • How much RAM? And how much did the whole thing cost you?

  • Just 2Gigs and the whole thing cost at the time of purchase ~$2400 now you can get the same thing for less than half.

  • Excluding monitors

  • If you watch the video this responds to it will make more sense, if you have watched the video then sorry you don't understand but it's about as simple as it gets.

  • Still think that Linux is better.

Linux can do the same with 2 monitors.

+ it have more options and stuff.

The video you are replying to was recorded via software, not by a cam...

  • And I forgot to mention.

All that can do with less hardware requirements.
