Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence, continued to own slaves for his entire life.

America has done a lot to help out the world but lets not forget the fact that America was founded in the GENOCIDE of the people who where already here and in the SLAVERY that went on for more than 200 years, yey!!
