Here's a clip from Udo Pipper playing a Gibson Les Paul R9. It's taken from the Gitarre & Bass Magazine 03/2008 where they compare a Gibson Les Paul Reissue vs. an original '59 using the same set up (Cream JTM45 clone with chinese KT66, 4x12 cab with Celestion G12M Greenback Reissue from the 90's). Check out the other clip with the original '59: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJSAudDWxO8&feature=channel_page

  • This comparison is not fair, as the Burstbuckers are really shitty pickups. Put decent PAFs into the R9 and take it from there. You can't compare apples with bananas

  • wow>>>>59 original just kills this muffled wimpy R9! absolutely no comparison...

  • @VUnit258

and im sure in 50 years the original will be in pieces lol

  • I'm sure if you gave this 50 years of age it will sound just as good as the original.

  • Well, that was depressing. A huge difference. So 5 or 6k won't get you anywhere near close to the '59. The '59 is mesmerizingly great. The amp is awesome of course, I'm wondering if any of the mojo or ceriatone kits with kt66s can get anywhere near this?

  • Nice !
