Viva!'s When Pigs Cry shows Viva!'s investigation of pig farms in the country's #2 'pork' producing state, North Carolina. Sick and diseased pigs are common. On a small farm in Georgia, mother pigs are kept in gestation and farrowing crates - banging their heads and frustrated by their inability to walk or even turn around.

Imagine being trapped in a small cage, metal bars surrounding you. You cannot step forwards or backwards or turn around. You can barley turn your head. After a while, every movement becomes AGONY and the feces and urine pile up, burning your skin. Sure,it's warm and you get enough bland food to survive, but you're trapped. Imagine the claustrophobia. There is no way out. Imagine being there for six years. FARROWING CRATES AND FACTORY FARMING IS DISGUSTING AND DESPICABLE.

@korno96 actually if you did some reserach before you posted this you would have realised that animals do actually have the same emotions we do, they feel like we do and they have basic insticts and needs that have to be fulffilled for them to be happy. Yes as humans we can eat meat, thats fine, but it is not ok when the meat comes from animals that have endured such a horrible life. we can make better choices like free range poultry and meat as well as sustainable fish. =)

@korno96 oh for crying out loud... we have NEVER been doing this untill just about 50 years ago, industrializing animals can only end up bad, check out some biology they do feel pain and pigs are extremely smart - they feel even more pain i eat meat but i would never eat tortured unhappy meat, and remember we were soposed to get eaten too but since we nuked out our all our natural enemies it ended up like this, why dont you think about that

@korno96 What are you talking about? Animals are here for food!?! I don't think so!! They are here to enjoy their lives, just like us!! They might not be able to communicate our language, that doesn't mean they do not feel or have emotions. Studies after studies have proved that animals, even fish, feel pain and suffering. They get depressed. All the mammals have strong bonds towards their youngs.
