Incredible...the Freemasons have been around for centuries, everyone has known about them, but a popular book and awful movie adaptation come out and people create the wildest conspiracy theories ever...incredible. Before DaVinci Code, people were not freaking out about this. I had never believed in mass hysteria before this--just stunning.

@tvswnet Really? Mass Hysteria? People have been interested in the Free Masons for 100's of years if not more. Maybe your depth of knowledge is based on Dan Brown's book but Many people have written books way before Dan Brown, Some would say Brown is a thief.. Also The First Independent political party was called The Anti-Masonic Party. This is not mass hysteria in any way, I think when you made that claim, You showed how little you know about the Free Masons and the people interested in them.

@SOSnUSA Yes, mass hysteria. The masons were hardly a topic of conversation among the masses before the Dan Brown stuff, followed up by Zeitgeist and the like. It's not unlike the hysteria that followed the release of "Jaws," when a new seed of fear was planted about what's lurking in the water (cue scary music)--the number of beach bathers dropped significantly for a time. Fear is a very powerful tool of persuasion--now we're supposed to fear symbols, illuminati, terrorists, and on and on.
