Chinese BYD Auto convertible sports car

This new developed F8 coupe/convertible features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 130 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. Manual and automatic transmission versions are to be produced. BYD projects a top speed of 112 mph and 0-60-mph acceleration in less than 14 seconds.BYD wants to begin selling the F8 next year, with prices starting at around $25,000.

One thing distinguishing BYD from other emerging Chinese car manufacturers is that BYD is also the world's second biggest producer of rechargeable battery. BYD is committed to developing electrical power vehicle. It is not like Toyota and Honda's hybrid power vehicle which still use petro. Now BYD has already churn out the electrical power car based on F3 and set up the recharge power station inside the company's facility around the country and will be put into commercial use by Shenzhen's taxi company. 0-60 MPH is 6 seconds and the car can sustain 220 miles' continuous drive after fully charged. BYD also developed an easy-to-carry recharge "Pillar" for garage and parking lot which use household 220 volt electrical supply. To fully recharge the car will take about 10 minutes.

(update)China's BYD auto has invented world's first electric-gas dual mode car using HOUSEHOLD POWER OUTLET to charge. What make this car unique is its function to charge the car using household power outlet, and also its IRON battery, which is much cheaper than battery used in Prius and other electric car and thus make it much more realistic and cost-effective. BYD is planning to start the mass production in the year of 2008, before the opening of Beijing Olympic game. This also indicates that China's enterprises are striving hard to use the green power other than traditional environment-unfriendly resource like gas.(update)

Electrical power car is going to change not only the car industry, but also the petro industry, which means that consumers can get out of the addiction to petro and save lots of energy. But the vested interest will be the biggest obstacle standing in BYD's way since Petro companies are powerful not just in China but also in USA and t rest of the world.

@bondi15 El problema con las grandes marca que siempre nos han esplotado y nos han vendido coche de manofactura y mano de obra china, se debe a que hoy ese Pais esta fabricando los mismos autos y su calidad excelente, que los estan vendiendo a mitad de precio. De los carros chinos los unico que no compraria ni recomendaria seria los FAW. Igualmente las grandes marcas han sacado y siguen sacando carros que su calidad y funcionamiento al igual que sus materiales dejan mucho que desear.
