  • my Japanese Dreamcast (used with uk stepdown converter) suddenly turned off and I noticed a nasty smell and a little smoke coming out of it's fan tray! I have opened it up,but nothing "seems" to be damaged on the power board, any idea how can I find out whats the problem??

  • @alak58 If you can get a UK Dreamcast and put the PSU in the Jap Dreamcast then you will not need the stepdown converter as they can damage the Dreamcast because it could be more amps than the Dreamcast is use to

  • @arranmc182 it turned out that the 200v Cap is blown.I know swaping the PS with a UK one is the easiest and best option, but then I need to use the Stepdown Transformer for the Saturn anyway, and recently bought a 100W which was recommended in a few forums.couldnt find a broken DC for a fair price..BUT are you sure about damaging DC by transformers? cause DC is 22W while my transformer is 100W but apparently the DC will suck only it's required wattage (22) out of transforme and no more??

  • @alak58 some cheap step down converters can damage the Dreamcast as the ampage can fluctuate to much and that damages the PSU

  • anyone know how to fix a dreamcast that plays audio cds but not game cds? it will even load "backups" all the way up to where it has to play a game then stop. any help at all would be great

  • try my other videos if thats no help google is your friend

  • my dreamcast powers on then shut off!How can I fix it?

  • @arranmc182 I tried to fix it buy replacing the busted cap, didn't work.so I think now I have to change the whole PSU with a PAL psu.

  • @BioAlpha7569 I'm no expert on this, but it may be a loose battery that is used to power

    the bios.

  • My question; Is the fuse likely blown ? And if so, how can I know for sure ?

  • My Dreamcast short circuited, and black smoke came out.

This happened after adjusting my scart cable at the T.V's back

(to get it in straighter) and my Dreamcast was turned on.

I never heard of scart cables being able to make consoles short circuit,

and I am not entireally sure if that was the cause, but it seems too coincidental

    not to be.

When I opened my Dreamcast and took out the fuse, I could find nothing

out of place to the naked eye, nor any smoke stains.

  • i respect u for fixing it and not smashing it like other assholes
