The symbiote can shapeshift. I think the whole "pill" thing, was just something Bendis wrote to try and be clever.

just read dark avengers #1 today and i agree with what you guys are saying. not terribly ground breaking. one thing that bothered me though was venom. now, i haven't kept up on venom too much for about the last ten or so years so maybe they changed it and i didn't notice, but couldn't he shape shift? why does he need some sort of pill to make him look more like spider-man?

Also, I agree with the actor based characters in comics being a lame thing. The one exception at least for me is the personification of Christopher Reeve in Action Comics.

Yeah, Death Cab for Cutie is one of the bands that Jose will play in the shop while we record the segments. He plays some great stuff.
