i have one of those im in mexico just with a picture film works great the only thing my battery just hold power for ten minutes instead of 120 but when i used i can see trough and specially in dark fabrics colors

@Knightmessenger It was my understanding that it was the Specific Month and year. The "issue" had to do with changing a chip or modifying it to NOT "x-ray" materials. I do not know the signs (Sticker?) of a unit that was or wasnt sent via recall. The Part was Too high Performance for "General Public". Try calling SONY or sending in the "warranty" card to see if you get the recall notice. Try asking the original owner if u can? Id say call sony and ask

@855h0le So in some cases, earlier releases of the EXACT SAME model had the X-ray filter while later versions did not?

Is there anyway to tell whether the camera has it or not without using the night vision filter?

@Knightmessenger It MUST be before the recall. (They recalled the 1997) So if you find one and it wasnt sent out on its recall. BUY IT! SO you know DAM well they "fixed" the 1998+ on up. :(

@atakan196 not fake cuz my roommate had one. It MUST not be sent out on its recall. Some colors worked VERY well over others. Get one if u can!

Did the 615 come out in 1997. I have one that says 1998 on it as does a friend. I haven't noticed anything with the nightshot either.
