President Bush - APEC 2007 Business Summit - Part 4 of 4

APEC 2007 Business Summit - President George W Bush gives a speech to The Third Session of the APEC Business Summit at The Sydney Opera House, 7th. September in which Mr. Bush shows his deep friendship & admiration to Australia's Prime Minister John W Howard.
Mr. Howard was one of the main overseas allies that was with Mr. Bush in The US at the time of 911 & moved quickly to give his support to The US at one of her most vulnerable times in recent history.
In this stirring piece of Bush oratory The President reminds us all of the hard won freedoms that are "The Western Democracies" & to stand firm in the fight for economic & political progress in the free & oppressed world. It seems strange that so many opponents of Mr. Bush can not see the very simple equation that he constantly speaks about, which is of course that broad economic prosperity will always bring general political stability, in other words to re coin a well known phrase, "The idea is to please as many people for most of the time, which will lead to peace & prosperity for most of the time."
This I feel will go down as one of the swan song speeches for both leaders, as Mr.Bush will be out of office by late January 2009 & Mr. Howard looks like he is facing electoral annihilation in the upcoming General Election in Australia, which gives me a sense of irony as to my own thoughts on these matters, because I would truly love the idea of living in a benign dictatorship where these two great men could stay in office no matter what the people wanted, as sometimes the best people know what is best for their own nations & indeed the World !

Presently Australia has servicemen with you in Iraq but we have just gone through an election and have a new Prime Minister who is going to pull our troops out. It is a very disappointing result. hey buddy, cool it, that mistake is no where near as costly as the mistake that cost the lives of thousands more americans and will continue to do so for the next ten or so years, If bush had his way tens of thousands of americans will get killed under his ten year plan and no change will have been made for a fair and peaceful democracy.
