And will you still be my friend in the end?
Audio only, Peter Hammill, playing live and solo from the unofficial live album "Skeletons of Songs", plays one of my favourite PH songs "In The End", accompanied by my own video compilation. Recorded live at the All Souls Unitarian Church in Kansas City (USA) in February 1978, Hammill explains that all songs when first written exist in their 'skeleton' form, and when playing live and solo none of the orchestration and overdubbing added later are included. Live and solo is by far my favourite way of listening to Peter Hammill, and this album is amongst my top ten all-time favourite albums without question. I have uploaded some of my other favourite tracks from this album (keep watching this space for more). Please forgive me if the videos are similar, because there is a shortage of good footage, and the editing takes some considerable time.

I compiled the video myself utilising footage mostly downloaded from YouTube, with some of my own added effects and filters.

Please check out my other videos.

  • One of my ten favorite Hamill songs. Maybe not the best for poetry but here is a realy great piano run; the chords fit so thightly whith vocals than the overall effect is creepy.

  • Ditto - one of my top ten.

  • Oh ... but I love the poetry too :

    I promise you

    I won't leave a clue

    no tell-tale remark

    no print from my shoe

    -----------------------------

    all the pages are thin

    all the corners are curled.

does the starshine fall in through my window on the world?

  • Impresionante,una autentica joya¡

  • Uno de mis favoritos

  • Great agressive performance.

  • This live version from the Kansas gig has now been released as a remixed bonus track on the remastered Chameleon album. Another track from this same Kansas gig, 'Easy To Slip Away', also appears on the same album as a bonus track.

  • that [Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night] is a v good album indeed.

  • "Permission to FEEL is UnGranted!"

  • *merci

  • le chanteur, ptin quelle voix !!!

  • "Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night" was the second solo album by British singer-songwriter Peter Hammill.

The song: "In the End" is related to VdGG's decision to split, following an exhausting, demoralising and poverty-stricken experience of being a touring rock band.

The cover was designed by Paul Whitehead. It shows Peter Hammill's astrological sign scorpio twice, as a painting of a real scorpion and as part of a personal logo."
