the torch tip shouldn't be all black like that. the reason for this is because you run it at a lower psi...the torch tip is designed to run at "almost full throttle" so it doesn't burn back into the tip and loosen the turbo blades inside. if this happpens the tip is no good anymore. i worked at a company called Wingearsheek, we designend and manufactured regulators and tips. many different models. mapp gas burns hotter for a reason. heats faster to get the job done in less time, saving fuel

a little bit hotter??? mapp burns at 5350 degrees farinhite and propane/butaine only burns at 3420 degrees farinhite!!! its not a little its a lot hotter
