great video! i have a 40s&w, and i heard the clip for the hi point 45 and 40 were identical, do you kno if thats correct? then i could us 1911 clips.....
If they made their weapons M1911 mag compatible, and made M1911 mags - and they could - then their hi-point pistol/carbine owners might still shop around and buy from Colt, Magpul or whoever.
Who knows. The next "generation" of Hi-Point .45 pistols *might* officially use M1911 magazines. It would be a big change.
You never know. It is still very unusual for pistols of different designs to use the same magazines. SIG P226 and Beretta 92 etc are similar but have incompatible mags.
@Treblaine yes, it is true what you say about the mags generating some more revenue; however, more mags would be sold if they MADE and SOLD ALSO a 1911 mag that can be used in the .45 carbine AND in the 1911 INTERCHANGEABLY...they couls sell the old mags and 45. carbine, and, also sell the 19ll compatible(interchangeable) mags and 45 carbine! Dude, they would sell twicw as many .45 mags and carbine in this fashion, and, most importantly, additional tooling-up would be minimal!!!
Would it not make sense for Hi Point to make their .45 carbine to use 1911 mags?!? All they would need to do is to adjust the interior "reach" of the mag disconnect, to go in deeper at the correct position...why dont they do so?!? There should be no utility patent issues for the 1911 model, as it has been out for 100 years, and, many, many companies manufacture the exact 1911 model! It would be nice to use a HP .45 carbine with compatability with 1911 mags w/ a 1911 at the holster...
I prefer the other guy's extended magazine video. No cutting, just stick a flat head in that slot and protect the mag with wood. Then just gently tap out a lip...like the real hi point mags. My 2 cents.
Yes they are the same. Just the 4 0has an insert to comp for a smaller round

Why would one do this? I don't understand. Doesn't the 1911 mag only hold 7 rounds?

@ETHEREALYOGA hi-point makes money off every hi-point magazine sold.
They don't make money off every M1911 mag sold.
Helps them make money in the long run with proprietary magazines.

Will the 1911 mags still work in a 1911? I want to do this for a carbine, and be able to share mags.
