Ancient Mysteries - The puzzling Pyramids of Mexico Part 1

Teotihuacán home of the Mexican Pyramids, the great Avenue of the Dead and the Temple of the Feathered Serpent it is a two thousand-year old urban wonder. Claimed by Aztecs as the City of the Gods, it was not until the turn of this century that archaeologists realized that the eight mile square city was not Aztec at all, but built by a much earlier civilization. Planned and mapped out according to the stars and built over a series of sacred caves, at its height, Teotihuacán was the seventh largest city of the ancient world. Its power and influence was felt throughout Mexico and as far away as the western jungles of the Mayan Empire. Despite its advanced civilization, however, Teotihuacán remains wrapped in silence; the Teotihuacános never developed a writing system they left neither stories nor statues behind. We know little of who they really were. Who were their kings, their priests? Why did they build the pyramids? Did they, like their Maya neighbors, practice human sacrifice? This program explores the recent excavations made by on-site archaeologists as they look for clues hidden in the city's sacred caves and in the abstract images of its many murals clues that will someday reveal the secrets and stories of this once mighty empire.

The Great Pyramid of Cholula is the biggest pyramid in the world by sheer volume! So don't say simply they were "cute" give them more credit than that, were its dully deserved. I can smell a "hater" when it starts to stink ; ) Egyptians pyramids are really cool though. My respect Egyptians, it shows Europe wasn't always (THE) Civilization to contribute to "modernizing" human development. At least in its prime...

The commentator says that the Egyptian pyramids where tombs. I thought they never found a mummy inside any of the Egyptian pyramids, only a sarcophagus without a body. I don't think these things are originally for tombs. They are way more special than that. It's like we use to thrive in big busting cities and then got wiped out and started over again and here we are again today. Destined to repeat.

@TheLieWeLive True, they were calendars and astrological advancements also. What I also find amazing is Egypt's relation to Orion's belt and the near 26,000 great year theory. Cuba also I believe in 2007 found pyramid structures deep on the ocean floor while scanning the bottom. The Bosnian pyramids have relation to the stars as well. China's pyramids I don't know much about but would love to hear what other people know! AMAZING STRUCTURES!

all the stories of Gods coming down from 'the heavens' and bringing them knowledge and helping them evolve. that surely cannot just all be made up. all the ancient texts (whether Egyptian or not) all state that these 'Gods' came from the sky on 'flying boats' along with fire, smoke and noise.if you ask me,these stories are TRUE! these things happened. open your mind a little. the evidence is all around us. dont just sit at your computer and argue a point that you probably havnt got answers for.

@Northax okay so if they didn't posses some sort of technology, how did they know the earth was round, that it revolved around the sun. the moon revolves around us. the way the planets are arranged. they even knew about planets that have only just been discovered using advanced technology TODAY! if they didnt have it back then, how is this possible. how did they build structures using advanced mathematics? and how is there machine marks all over these stones and they are cut to perfection.

All these huge ancient pyramids were clearly not built using hammers and chisels. They were built using advanced technology. Astronauts from another world came down thousands of years ago to get resources from earth. They genetically modified primates (hence the missing link) into humans and used us as slaves to build these massive monuments etc. for them. They then left earth after they had done what they were here for and humans were left to evolve on their own. Watch 'Ancient Aliens'. Proof.

Yes, thus proving what we (that believe civilization has nothing to do with a specific genetic group of people) have been saying all along: All humans have intelligence, but it's the CULTURE and personal beliefs that make people build certain structures!
